Better Coffee Decisions & Brew Guidance

Decide whether a coffee fits your taste, find a grounded brew starting point, and rate only what you actually noticed.

Your coffee history can now help before you buy and before you brew. This release connects what you already know about your taste with the coffee in front of you, while making product details easier to understand and sensory feedback easier to leave optional.

What changed in v0.4.0

Coffee taste matching — “Will I like this?”

Beanmemo compares known product facts with your own recorded coffee history. An experience with the same coffee comes first; broader patterns can add context, and missing facts remain unknown.

Brew guidance from your own coffee history

A usable setup for the same coffee is the strongest starting point. When that is unavailable, compatible history from a similar coffee can suggest editable inputs without copying the old cup’s outcomes.

Sensory ratings that stay optional

Untouched dimensions now remain visibly unrated. A deliberate midpoint is still a real rating, while Clear returns that dimension to missing evidence.

Clearer Coffee Discovery and product facts

Product profile and source details are easier to distinguish. Intensity stays separate from roast, explicit source wording is preserved, and unknown fields are not filled with guesses.

Added

  • Will I like this? explains how a selected coffee relates to your recorded taste. Your experience with that same coffee comes first, and incomplete product facts stay incomplete. You decide whether to add it to your Shelf after reviewing the result.
  • Adaptive Brew Guidance offers starting settings from compatible recorded brews. A usable setup for the same coffee comes first; compatible similar-coffee history can help when it is missing. Apply suggestions explicitly and adjust them before brewing.
  • Two new Coffee Guides help you understand acidity, body and practical ratings, and choose coffee beans you are more likely to enjoy. What’s New now brings published release stories together in one public timeline.

Improved

  • Discovery covers Martermühle and Dallmayr sources, preserves explicit product facts and makes source information available for review.
  • Coffee Profile and Source details are easier to distinguish. Intensity stays separate from roast, and unknown facts are not filled with guesses.
  • Sensory sliders stay visibly unrated until you choose a rating. Choosing the midpoint is a real rating; Clear returns the dimension to unrated.

Fixed

  • Only the selected coffee shows Comparing while its taste-fit result is being prepared.
  • Stronger first-party Beanmemo identity information helps search engines identify the website and product consistently.

How to use it

  1. Open Coffee Discovery, find your coffee and choose Will I like this? Review the explanation before deciding whether to save it. If the coffee is not found, enter the package facts you know.
  2. In Brew Journal, select a coffee and review any available starting guidance beside the brew controls. Apply only the settings you want to use, then record your actual result separately.
  3. Leave sensory sliders untouched when you have no observation to record, or use Clear to remove a rating. Find the new learning articles in Coffee Guides.

Good to know

A taste-fit result is guidance, not a guarantee. Sparse history or missing compatible equipment and product facts can limit suggestions. Source coverage varies, and the search-identity changes do not promise a particular search ranking.
